Replicate3d Objects Position
Posted 31 March 2013 - 08:19 PM
You can get the positions of the objects in the Replicate3D tool by using a CoordTransform3D modifier.
This works on the Duplicate3D and the Text3D tool too. Check out the examples here
*just remove the WaveModifier on the CURRENT_CoordTransform3D.SubID to scrub thru the positions manually*

It would be great to get Rotations aswell, but well having the positions is still cool!

The only drawback is that you have to be careful to keep the ids consistent. E.g. if you use particles don't let them die - rather make them invisible. For geometry there this limitation does not exist.
Btw Rotation / Scale modifier: I've seen this request a few day ago and logged it as feature request.

Here´s something i have been playing around with. I fractured the egg object in C4d and exported a fbx with all the pieces.
Then imported it and replaced the Fbx merge tool with the Replicate3D tool ( right clicking on the merge > Replace tool > 3D > Rep.. )
Had to make sure that the yellow input ( Destination) was disconnect first. There are pretty cool things you can do with this.
Thanx for loggin that request!
Rename the egg.fbx.txt to >>> egg.fbx

http://vfxpedia.com/...Transformations, from 2011.
What's funny is that rotation is so obviously useful, but I can't think of a use case for scale other that it would just look nicer in the UI to have all 3.
