Lightworks has been around for years - when I worked for Avid they were our main competition. Now LW is run by a friend of mine, Andy Liebman, who owns Editshare, the first shared storage I purchased a long time ago. It always worked quite well without issue. Andy is the one who tool LW into opensource. The base code could not be in better hands. Andy is a guy who clearly understands the market as he was a producer and editor prior to the editorshare venture.

cheers

hi jeff,

could you ask your friend andy if he or some of the other developers (i guess there is somebody else) did have a look at the files i provided and if we can see fusion5 and up support in a newer build of lightworks?
i didnt get feedback from them on the official forum, maybe you can bring it up

thanks, michael

It's the video editing console, tied to the application that makes all the difference. At least that's what editors tell me. So you could say they make pretty expensive dongles ;)

now lightworks is out in version 11 and i should support fusion as an "assistend application". which means you can send clip directly into fusion and do stuff on it.

but for me it doesnt work. lightworks creates the fusion comp and starts fusion, but fusion wont open the comp file from lightworks.

does somebody else tried the new version of lightworks? does it work for you?

does Fusion open the comp if you do it manually? or is it a broken comp file?

okay, after discussing this issuse on the ligthworks forum it seems that it is a bug in the current version of lightworks. it has some problem when the path to the create fusion comp contains spaces

will be fixed in a upcoming version

a new version of lightworks is out and now everything works fine

you can add an effect "fusion" on a clip. then launch fusion from inside lightworks and it will open fusion with a comp where the media is already in a loader. do your magic in fusion, render out and back in lightworks you can easily replace the original clip with the new renders.

nice!
