I know it does exist but I can't find it. Is there a reason why it is kept away. A secret weapon? I could use it right now.
Unfortunately the fuse documentation on particles is on vacation ;p

Yep same here. I would dearly like to load object sequences as particles (and preferably fill mesh volumes with particles too, and have 3d objects work as regions for particle systems). Also, a way to export particle locations from Fusion would be good.

Hi there,

Your'e probably thinking of the pFromFile-obj.Fuse. I got it from a free tutorial at cmivfx.com called "Importing Obj Fluids to Fusion" on getting Blender fluids into Fusion.

As expected, it loads particles as a series of objects. You need to add a pChangeStyle node after the Fuse, then set style attributes etc., then a pRender node. You can add more attributes/forces in between as usual. I'd attach the example .obj sequence but its too large to upload. You can find it with the tutorial above at cmivfx.

BTW, if you sign up there use a throw away address because you'll get endless marketing emails from them with no option to opt out.

cheers,
Gary

Neat! This could easily be modified to support Krakatoa style CSV particle exports. Getting binary compressed particles, however, would be more difficult. Though we do have the 3D SDK now...

How does one go about getting the SDK? I'm just a student, albeit an OLD student, but I have some wacky ideas I'd like to play with. :)

Just fyi, it was written by Isaac at eyeon, modified by Hulan here on the board to fit our max/fu particle loader. And for some strange reason, ended up at cmivfx giving it away.... As far as Hulan checked, parts of his code is identical...

Thanks, good to know!
He said something about it being modified from some fuse to import data from Lidar scans but didn't give any credit. :angry2:

Could somebody tell me why this wonderful fuse not loading at all under Fu 6.1?
Maybe it needs to be rewritten?

Thanks a lot

Yes. As per the release notes, particle fuses need to be rewritten. For now, work in 6.0 for that feature.
